The Canadian Collegiate Esports League (CCEL) is excited to reveal all that's happening this upcoming semester! The competitive video gaming league is open to all students and offers robust esports scholarship, a huge conference for several titles, and an opportunity to lead your own esports team with customizable jerseys.

The esports scholarship, called the Harry Jerome Scholarship, will be awarded to one student every year who is involved with the CCEL. The scholarship has a value of $5,000 CAD.

To kick off the CCEL season, we'll start with Rocket League, Halo Infinite, and Splitgate. Bring your A-game to compete against the best players in Canada. Below is a list of initial groups of universities & colleges competing in the conference:

Thanks to everyone who has completed games so far.  We have received great feedback about new features players would like to see and have fixed a couple of bugs, so we encourage everyone to make new challenges this week to take advantage of the changes.  

Some updates include:

• Fixed an issue where a game lobby would not form correctly after a challenge

• Fixed an issue where players who were challenged would sometimes not see the notification

• Players who issue a challenge are now able to cancel their game before the challenge is accepted, if needed

• Changed the default start time to 15 minutes from the current time instead of 5, to allow players more time to see the challenges

• Improved the lobby interface to help players find the "Accept / Decline" challenge buttons more efficiently

• Fixed a number of minor visual bugs / issues

• Improved the Lobby notifications UI so players know when challenges are pending approval or ready to go

The upcoming CCEL Fortnite Summer Showdown is this Saturday, July 24th at 12 pm PST/3pm EST.  I want to remind everyone of a couple of things:

• Please don't forget to to register for the tournament, deadline is Thursday at Midnight PST: https://gyoca.gg/league/CCEL/lg/ccel-fortnite/summer-showdown/
• This is a Duos tournament, so you will need to create a team with another player. Head over go to the CCEL discord, make sure to have a Fortnite role, and go to the #looking-for-group channel in the Fortnite category.
• We will be communicating with you via GYO as well as the CCEL discord. Make sure you have your discord listed on GYO. This can be done by following this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhFp1Wzh3W8
